MENAGEN MENTORING for PUBLICATION PROGRAMME (MPP 2024-25)

Now in its fourth year, the purpose of the MPP is to support publication of gender and entrepreneurship research focused upon the Arab world. So if you answer YES to these three statements, please apply for the MENAGEN MPP 2024-2025:

- I am an early career / mid-career researcher.
- I am researching a topic related to gender and entrepreneurship in the Arab world.
- I am developing a research paper for a journal.
MENAGEN’s Mentoring for Publication Programme (MPP) is designed to support early career and mid-career gender and entrepreneurship researchers working on gender and entrepreneurship in the Arab world, with their academic publication endeavors. In its first year, the MENAGEN MPP comprised of six mentoring matches, the second year we have expanded this to ten mentoring matches, and this year we are expanding it to fourteen matches. Thanks to the continued sponsorship of the Babson Global Centre for Entrepreneurial Leadership (BGCEL), the mentoring is free of charge.
As a mentee on the MPP, you will receive six hours of virtual mentoring from a dedicated leading expert specialising in gender and entrepreneurship research and scholarship. As a mentee on the MPP, you are expected to:
1- Be a member of MENAGEN. MENAGEN is free to join at MENAGEN LinkedIn Group.
2- Be researching a topic related to gender and entrepreneurship in the Arab world.
3- Be in the writing stage of your paper and have completed your data collection.
4- Deliver a research presentation about your paper for MENAGEN in 2024-25.
5- To acknowledge the MENAGEN MPP and BGCEL by including a statement in your publication as follows:

Meet Our Mentors
Professor Susan Marlow – Field Editor of Entrepreneurship Theory & Practice and Editor of the International Small Business Journal, the UK’s premier entrepreneurship research journal.
Professor Haya Al-Dajani – Associate Editor of the International Journal of Entrepreneurial Behaviour and Research, Entrepreneurship and Regional Development, and Gender, Work and Organization. Additionally, Haya is on the Editorial Boards of the International Small Business Journal, International Journal of Gender and Entrepreneurship, Journal of Entrepreneurship and Innovation, Journal of Family Business Management, and the Arab Economic and Business Journal.
Dr Hayfaa Tlaiss – Co-chair of MENAGEN, an experienced reviewer for leading entrepreneurship journals and academic mentor. Hayfaa has published extensively on women’s entrepreneurship in the Arab world.
Dr Bettina Bastian – Editor of the Arab Economic and Business Journal and has extensive reviewing experience for leading entrepreneurship journals. She is leading on several special issues related to gender and entrepreneurship scholarship in the Arab world.
Dr Carol Ekinsmyth – Co-Chair of the UK Women’s Enterprise Policy Group and Economic Geographer with key research interests in gender, place and enterprise. Carol won the Best Overall Conference Paper at the ISBE 2023 international conference, as well as the Best Paper in the Gender and Enterprise track. She is currently working in a multi-partner team on the EU-Intereg-funded ‘Accelerating Women’s Entrepreneurship’ project.
Dr Deema Refai – Joint Editor in Chief of The International Journal of Entrepreneurship and Innovation. Deema’s research focus is developed around constrained entrepreneurship, with a particular interest in the refugee and rural contexts, where she has led award winning research projects in Jordan and the UK, funded by the British Academy, AHRC and others.
Professor Dilani Jayawarna – Associate Editor of the Entrepreneurship and Regional Development Journal and Consulting Editor for the International Small Business Journal. She recently co-edited a special issue for International Journal of Entrepreneurship Behaviour and Research on entrepreneurial learning.
Dr Sally Jones – Co-Chair of ISBEGEN and an experienced reviewer for International Small Business Journal, Gender, Work and Organization, and the International Journal of Entrepreneurial Behaviour and Research among others, Sally has led the GEN Confreat, paper development workshops, since 2016. Sally is a review committee member for the International Journal for Entrepreneurship Behaviour and Research.
Professor Maura McAdam – an internationally recognized scholar within the area of women’s entrepreneurship. Maura is an experienced reviewer, academic mentor and sits on several Editorial Boards of leading entrepreneurship journals including Entrepreneurship Theory & Practice, the International Journal of Entrepreneurial Behaviour and Research, and the International Journal of Gender and Entrepreneurship.
Professor Katerina Nicolopoulo – Associate Editor, Journal of Social Entrepreneurship since 2020, and former Associate Editor European Management Review (2016-2019). Katerina has co- edited Special issues for journals such as Entrepreneurship and Regional Development, International Journal of Entrepreneurial Behaviour and Research, European Management Journal and Environmental Innovation and Societal Transitions as well as books with publishers such as Routledge and Edward Elgar.
Professor Julia Rouse – highly experienced academic, reviewer and mentor and sits on several editorial boards of leading entrepreneurship journals including the International Journal of Gender and Entrepreneurship.

Dr Lorna Treanor – Editorial Board member and Consulting Editor for the International Small Business Journal and also sits on the editorial board of the International Journal of Entrepreneurial Behaviour and Research. Lorna has been Gender track chair for the ISBE annual conference for eight years and is Vice President for Research of the Institute for Small Business and Entrepreneurship (ISBE).
Professor Natalia Vershinina – Associate Editor of Entrepreneurship and Regional Development and of the International Journal of Entrepreneurial Behaviour and Research. Natalia is on the Editorial Reviewer Board of Academy of Management Perspectives and Journal of Management Studies, and is leading on several special issues on gender and entrepreneurship, poverty and entrepreneurship as well as entrepreneurship in healthcare industry.
